Tree stumps aren’t just an eyesore—they’re a tripping hazard, a home for pests, and a barrier to new landscaping. Whether your stump is from a recently removed tree or has been sitting in your yard for years, H&L Tree Service offers expert stump grinding to remove it quickly and cleanly.
We use professional-grade equipment to grind down stumps below the surface, so you’re left with a smooth, level area that’s ready for sod, plants, or whatever comes next.
Stumps of all sizes
Surface and below-ground grinding
Quick cleanup
Safe for surrounding landscaping
Available after tree removal or as a standalone service
Before we begin, we inspect the area for any underground utilities or obstacles. We clear the workspace of rocks, debris, or objects that may interfere with grinding.
We bring in a specialized stump grinder and carefully position it for the safest and most effective approach based on stump size and location.
Our grinder has a rotating cutting wheel with sharp teeth that chips away at the stump, layer by layer. We grind the stump down several inches below the soil.
If roots are visible above the surface or near sidewalks or foundations, we can grind exposed roots down as needed to avoid future problems.
The grinding process creates mulch-like chips. You can keep this as garden mulch or we’ll clean it up and haul it away.
After the stump is ground, we backfill the hole with leftover mulch or clean soil if requested, leaving the area level and safe.
